As a puppy before the age of 4 months, I used to hate water a lot. I would hate it when my human mom sprays the garden hose at me. I hated baths even more! Bath times were hell for my humans 🙂 And when they took me to the park and tried to get me to swim in the lake, I would turn my nose up at them and walk away. Sometimes they tried to throw me into the water but I was, of course, much too fast for them!
People say beagles aren’t fond of water much, and I was a typical beagle until the age of 4 months. I don’t know what changed, but one day I saw a black labrador leap into the muddy lake at the park… and I followed suit! It was so fun and I loved swimming since then.
These days, I am known as the famous swimming beagle at the dog park which I visit every weekend. All the humans there love to watch me swim and they always cheer me on when I take a dive into the water to fetch something. Oh and I’m also notoriously known to fetch and steal other doggies’ tennis/squeaky balls and harass park visitors to throw me something into the lake so I can go swim and fetch it. They say I am a lab trapped in a beagle’s body!
You sure wouldn’t believe it…
I still love swimming and fetching tennis balls, and sometimes mom gets annoyed because I love chasing the water that sprays out of the garden hose as well! Sometimes mom takes me to a doggy day care center which has a special doggy swimming pool and many, many dogs to swim and play with. That’s another story for another day 🙂
Do you like swimming too? It’s really fun 😉
