Fruity Treats

My humans love to pick up weird flavoured treats when they go out shopping. Well, the important point is that I get to eat it. Of course, eating is always the most interesting part of the whole story.

What is it that you have in your hands, O human?! Bring it to my nose now and let thy beagle sniffeth it!

Duck and orange! Strange but true! No wonder they say humans have funny taste buds. Well if it’s served, I eat!

My humans think that I should have been named Gobble the Beagle instead of Cookie the Beagle. Seriously? Humans have such bad taste, no?

A raw meal in action

Sometimes I get a raw meal for dinner, usually chicken, some veggies and a small bit of yogurt.  Here’s a video of me wolfing down my delicious raw meal.

Om nom nom nom……crunchy!

I think I feel like having a nice big sandwich today…..

Yo human, put that down where I can gobble it!

Salvador

My human found Salvador at a curious corner in a bookshop. Of all places.

He was on sale with a huge discount and had a retractable body that came with his ridiculously large goofy head. He’s supposed to make a very good fetch toy.

Unfortunately for him, I prefer to tug at his head.

Poor Salvador, another ploy my human thought she could use to get some peace to eat her takeout dinner.

No one fools the beagle. I’m just gonna sit here and stare.

Happy beagle

I’m back from my wagcation at the pet sitter! Missed my humans so much. In view of the lunar new year, my human decided to give me a “red packet” – small envelope stuffed with money which is often given to small children during the lunar new year. This year, my human decided to give me a choice….. well, she stuffed one packet with a treat, and the other one with money. It was the last treat we had in the whole entire house as we’ve totally run out of treats!

Hmmm….. sorry but we beagles are just bad at financial planning…..

20140204-122451.jpg
Mmmm….. I can smell the treat….. my stomach is rumbling….. but…… at the same time, I wish I can have more treats too!

20140204-122949.jpg
Finally, I let my nose decide….. Well, a beagle’s gotta choose what a beagle’s gotta choose!

Since I decided to eat that one last treat we had, there are no more treats left and I have no money to buy more!!! Now I am just a poor penniless little beagle with no treats and no money 😦

Fortunately, my human decided to wake up early in the morning to bake me some healthy homemade treats!

20140204-134038.jpg
Enjoying the cookie smells from outside the kitchen….. Can I please please please have some?

20140204-134124.jpg
On guard dog duty….. in case anyone tries to get to the treats before me!

20140204-134209.jpg
Finally……some peanut butter cookies!

20140204-134241.jpg
These ugly little things are honey and oat treats! They aren’t very pretty but I love them very much! Crunchy!

20140204-134400.jpg
I am so hungry but my human says I should not have too much or I will grow fat! Hmm….. fat sounds good 🙂

A beagle doesn’t need lots of money to be happy. All a beagle needs is a full belly, a loving human, and plenty of tender loving care 🙂

Full belly going to sleep now…..zzzz….

All about kibbles

So my humans have been feeding me kibble for the past 1.5 months after they got tired of me swallowing my raw meals whole and sometimes choking myself in the process. What? I’m a beagle after all and which beagle doesn’t inhale good food?! 😀 So, they decided to put me on kibble because I can’t inhale my kibble and would need some time to chew my food. The result? Raw food takes me less than a minute to finish, vs kibble which takes me about 3-4 minutes to finish. My humans think that with kibble, I would have less risk of choking, but I don’t really care as long as it’s food and it tastes good!

Breakfast, please.

I am currently on Canine Caviar Special Needs Dinner which is supposed to be good for weight management, but unfortunately the vet had said I gained too much weight after switching to kibble! How could she….. I think I’ve been eating much less than when I was on raw! I get only 1 to 1.5 cups a day. My sister and I finished a 27lbs bag in a month.

20140119-085153.jpg
Our 2 months supply!

So far our poops have been nice and firm, and apart from weight problems (according to some humans!) we did just fine on this brand.

But lately my humans found out from dogfoodadvisor that this kibble we’ve been eating is only rated 2 stars! And they’re not impressed that they’ve been buying crappy dog food and burning a large hole in their pockets! (Canine Caviar is quite an expensive brand here.)

Previously I’ve tried many expensive brands including Orijen, California Natural, Addiction, Nature’s Variety Instinct, Barking Heads….. and they all gave me smelly, runny poop! It’s much worse for my sister Spring, because she has such a sensitive stomach and most foods give her bad gas and explosive diarrhea….. the worst being Nature’s Variety Instinct! So far, Canine Caviar is the only brand that didn’t give us bad poops.

So my humans are contemplating whether or not to go through another round of looking for the best suitable dog food (which I’m very excited about because I get to eat all the different kinds of yummy food!). What do you think? Can dog food ratings be trusted?

As much as I love to stuff my face with as much food as I can, I hope I can lose a little bit of weight too. Just yesterday, a neighbour who was walking her golden retriever stopped at out gate to say hello to me, and when she saw me, she exclaimed loudly to my human, “Omg, she is so bigggg!” Ouchhhhh, that kinda hurt my feelings! She hasn’t seen me for just a couple of weeks and now she says I’m fat?! Ohhh I am so sad! 😦

20140119-092218.jpg
Ohhhh it is such hard work being a fat beagle….. I think I need a treat to console myself……

20140119-093211.jpg
Maybe a nap after all that exercise……being a dog is hard work!
