Year of the Wood Horse

The lunar new year begins tomorrow, and so the long holidays have begun for many people. My sister Spring and I are currently vacationing at the pet sitter while my human goes back to her family across the sea. I would love very much to go with her but unfortunately the only way there is by air and there is also the rabies vaccination requirement and 6 month quarantine period! I will just have to miss her for a week!

What do you mean this bag is too small? I can totally fit in here!

We got to stay in the 600 sq ft suite at the pet sitter’s which has a dog house and private garden all to ourselves! And lots of cuddles from our lovely pet sitter too.

Checking out the garden….

Gimme food now!!!

This place has many interesting scents indeed!

Having my butt sniffed by a handsome boy also called Cookie. Cookie the miniature schnauzer. He totally likes me.

Mmmm….. I can smell what you had for dinner last night! Chicken and a hint of bacon treats. Yum…..

We love this place and would totally recommend it to our fur pals in KL/Selangor if your humans ever need to ditch you for a vacation out of town 🙂

The big garden and dog house.

This Chinese New Year will be the year of the wood horse. Chinese believe that the 2nd day of the lunar new year is the birthday of all dogs, so on this day humans must take care to be extra kind to pets and feed the strays too (although this should be done on a daily basis and not just once a year!). Dogs are considered auspicious beings who bring good fortune, and some believe that if a stray dog comes into your home, giving it a home will bring u good luck and fortune. So, don’t turn away a stray who comes to your doorstep or you will be turning away good fortune! Now give your lucky dog a big kiss for being such a blessing!

Unfortunately for humans especially those like mine, CNY can be quite an unpleasant time especially when facing nosy relatives. How I wish I could be there to protect them from all the nosy people! I would nip off their nosy toes in a flash! But since I cannot be there, here’s a good survival guide to all you humans who could be in the same soup! How to defend yourself and Why so kaypoh. Just for laughs 😀

I miss my human heaps even though I’m having loads of fun here. There will be heaps of fireworks playing tonight as tonight is the eve and peak of the celebrations. I hate fireworks and firecrackers, they give me quite a fright! Cross my paws and hope my lucky stars will make the sky rain tonight! I’d pee on the fireworks if I had the chance but unfortunately I can’t 😦

Happy Wood Horse Year!

All about kibbles

So my humans have been feeding me kibble for the past 1.5 months after they got tired of me swallowing my raw meals whole and sometimes choking myself in the process. What? I’m a beagle after all and which beagle doesn’t inhale good food?! 😀 So, they decided to put me on kibble because I can’t inhale my kibble and would need some time to chew my food. The result? Raw food takes me less than a minute to finish, vs kibble which takes me about 3-4 minutes to finish. My humans think that with kibble, I would have less risk of choking, but I don’t really care as long as it’s food and it tastes good!

Breakfast, please.

I am currently on Canine Caviar Special Needs Dinner which is supposed to be good for weight management, but unfortunately the vet had said I gained too much weight after switching to kibble! How could she….. I think I’ve been eating much less than when I was on raw! I get only 1 to 1.5 cups a day. My sister and I finished a 27lbs bag in a month.

Our 2 months supply!

So far our poops have been nice and firm, and apart from weight problems (according to some humans!) we did just fine on this brand.

But lately my humans found out from dogfoodadvisor that this kibble we’ve been eating is only rated 2 stars! And they’re not impressed that they’ve been buying crappy dog food and burning a large hole in their pockets! (Canine Caviar is quite an expensive brand here.)

Previously I’ve tried many expensive brands including Orijen, California Natural, Addiction, Nature’s Variety Instinct, Barking Heads….. and they all gave me smelly, runny poop! It’s much worse for my sister Spring, because she has such a sensitive stomach and most foods give her bad gas and explosive diarrhea….. the worst being Nature’s Variety Instinct! So far, Canine Caviar is the only brand that didn’t give us bad poops.

So my humans are contemplating whether or not to go through another round of looking for the best suitable dog food (which I’m very excited about because I get to eat all the different kinds of yummy food!). What do you think? Can dog food ratings be trusted?

As much as I love to stuff my face with as much food as I can, I hope I can lose a little bit of weight too. Just yesterday, a neighbour who was walking her golden retriever stopped at out gate to say hello to me, and when she saw me, she exclaimed loudly to my human, “Omg, she is so bigggg!” Ouchhhhh, that kinda hurt my feelings! She hasn’t seen me for just a couple of weeks and now she says I’m fat?! Ohhh I am so sad! 😦

Ohhhh it is such hard work being a fat beagle….. I think I need a treat to console myself……

Maybe a nap after all that exercise……being a dog is hard work!

My new bed

My humans bought me a new bed! It’s actually a cushion that my humans got for a bargain at a home furniture sale and is 1/3 the price of a doggie bed sold in pet shops!

My humans put my old blanket over it to make it more comfortable and to prevent my saliva from drooling all over it…..
